Our mission:  To achieve optimal wellness for each patient through the use of veterinary acupuncture, alone or in concert with other therapies.
Our values:  To relieve pain, hasten healing, and improve quality of life.

Realizing that this home-based approach provided a better opportunity for overall patient care than a busy clinic, she left clinical practice in 2008 and now devotes 100% of her time to acupuncture, pain management, and rehabilitation.  She is currently pursuing 2 certifications in pain management, and has plans in 2009 to take courses in herbal therapies and physical therapy.   "So many times, animal pain and discomfort goes unrecognized and untreated," she says.  "I plan to change that by educating not only myself, but my clients as well".

When not busy seeing patients, Dr. Brown is a volunteer for the Lutheran Pet Therapy Program and Meow Mobile (a low cost spay and neuter service for cats).  She has also volunteered with VIDAS, an international organization providing spays and neuters for dogs and cats in Mexico.

Dr. Shelley Brown received her BA in Biology from the University of Colorado in 1991 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1997.  After practicing for 2 years, Dr. Brown decided to pursue additional training in complementary medicine.  In 1999, she completed the 140 hour Basic Course in Veterinary Acupuncture at Colorado State University.   Over her career she has incorporated this valuable technique into her practice with increasing frequency.

In 2005, she launched Healing Touch Acupuncture for Animals, an in-home acupuncture practice designed to better serve her patients.  "I love going to my patient's homes", she says.  "They are so much more relaxed than in the clinic.  They are actually happy to see me, and I get to see their true personalities".

In her spare time, Dr. Brown holds certifications as a triathlon and a cycling coach and currently coaches for 2 womens triathlon teams.  "I enjoy introducing women to the sport of triathlon," she says.  "It is amazing to see the empowerment they get from completing races".  A competitor herself, the last few years of coaching have left her little time for her own training.
